Atlanta’s all-female punk rock trio, The Coathangers, brings its accidental awesomeness (the band allegedly started jokingly as a way for the group to hang out and play at parties) to DC9. Philly based rockers, Residuels, and D.C.’s shoegazey Venn get the show started. Doors 8 p.m. $12 in advance, $14 day of show.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19

D.C. local, Den-Mate, celebrates the release of its third album, Entropii, with the help of Babe City Records and Black Cat. The first single from Entropii, “Fall” showcases the band’s electro-punk vibe, highlighting hypnotic synths and vocals. Opening the release party is fellow D.C. duo NUEX and Maryland’s purrer. Doors 7:30 p.m. $10 advance, $12 day of show.

’90’s boy band lovers unite! O-Town comes to Jammin Java, bringing out the teenage fan-girl in any woman in her late twenties and early thirties. Hardly the the baby-faced studs of the late ’90’s, the boys of O-Town are all grown up. They are taking the lessons of their early career and applying them to their renewed musical journey. THURSDAY, APRIL 20

Ireland’s iroically named Girl Band—ironic because the band is comprised entirely of dudes—brings its post-punk sound stateside to DC9, with support from Bambara. Doors 8:30 p.m. $12-$14.

Charlottesville pop-rockers Parachute brings The Getaway Tour to Rock and Roll Hotel, supporting their most recent album, Wide Awake, which was released in November 2016. Kris Allen opens. 8 p.m. $25.

If you’re looking for a way to support local music and a great cause at the same time, try heading to Slash Run for Rock for RAINN (Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network). All proceeds from the show will go to RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country. The organization also operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense, in addition to numerous other programs to prevent sexual violence. The benefit features Pagan Reagan, FuzzQueen, and Ménage À Garage. Doors 10 p.m. $10.

SATURDAY, APRIL 22

Black Cat hosts HAT BAND SHOWCASE – a benefit for Girls Rock! DC. Girls Rock! DC hosts a week-long summer camp for girls, non-binary, and trans youth, where they receive musical instruction, form bands, and collaborate to write original material. The participants perform at a showcase at the end of the week. Campers also learn about the history of women in rock, gender and cultural identity, merchandising, promotion, conflict resolution, and other skills. Bands playing this showcase include High Wire Rodeo, Lightmare, and Trappist Keeper, among many others. Each group plays for only 10 minutes, so arrive early. Doors 3 p.m. $12.

Country new-comers Brandy Clark and Charlie Worsham team up for a performance at The Hamilton. Brandy Clark’s debut album, 12 Stories, debuted in 2013 and garnered her Grammy and CMA nominations for Best Album. Worsham also released his debut studio album, Rubberband, in 2013 and is currently promoting his sophomore album, Beginning of Things. Doors 6 p.m. $20-$49.50.
