Police are searching for two men with AK-47s who are suspected of robbing an armored truck driver in Brightwood this morning.
D.C. Police spokesperson Karimah Bilal said officials received a call around 11:47 a.m. and responded to the 5400 block of 5th Street NW.
The men approached the truck driver and “demanded a bag he was carrying,” according to a release from the Metropolitan Police Department. Officers recovered the bag at the scene.
The men got into a car that was driven by a third suspect, and they fled eastbound on Kennedy Street NW, according to police.
Police say the getaway car is a dark colored Dodge Charger with temporary Maryland tags (the first two numbers are 54) and chrome wheels.
The first suspect is described as a black male, 6’1 inches, who was wearing a tan sweater and dark pants. And the second suspect is described as a black male 5′ 10″ who was wearing a grey hoodie and black pants. There’s no description for the getaway driver.
