I’m sure your Morning Joe advent calendar has already filled you in—this weekend is the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
We know at least one new Washington D.C. resident, President Donald Trump, will not be there, breaking with the longstanding tradition in which the commander in chief listens to comedians lightly (or not-so-lightly) roast him in the presence of (some) members of the White House Correspondents’ Association.
And now, we know where our president will be instead: a rally. Because why speak to the media when you can vilify them to your supporters?
Trump tweeted this past Saturday that he’ll be heading to the Keystone state for the rally, at least his third since becoming president.
Next Saturday night I will be holding a BIG rally in Pennsylvania. Look forward to it!

Still, just because Trump won’t be in D.C. doesn’t mean that the city will be empty this weekend. Hasan Minhaj, a senior correspondent with The Daily Show, will headline the dinner. Elsewhere in D.C., comedian Samantha Bee is hosting an alternate event on Saturday called “Not The White House Correspondents Dinner.”
Should Trump or his White House staffers change their minds last-minute, WHCA President Jeff Mason said they’d still be welcome at the dinner. It’s not looking likely, though White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Trump would consider attending next year “if things get better.”
