The owner of The Queen Vic describes last Sunday as “a bit of a weird night” in a Facebook post about an unusual dine-and-dash at the neighborhood bar.
The suspects not only skipped out on the check, but left with their plates of food in tow, said Ryan Gordon, owner of the British pub in the H Street Corridor.
Gordon told Eater DC, which first reported the incident, that the dash cost him about $100 in food and drinks, plus $150 for the “expensive” dishes.
“It’s really odd. In my 30 years of doing this in the business, I have never seen this,” Gordon told Eater. “It caught me off guard.” He said the group got away while the bartender went into the kitchen around 11 p.m.
Instead of calling the police for the “minor thing,” Gordon said he posted photos from his surveillance camera on social media to shame the thieves more than anything else.
