With mosquito season upon us, pest control company Orkin has ranked the D.C. region as second on its annual list of top mosquito cities.

The list ranks 50 metro areas based on the number of residential and commercial customers who needed the company’s mosquito treatments from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017.

Atlanta is on top for the fourth year in a row, and Chicago, New York, and Miami rounded out the top five. Baltimore came in at number 28.

As fears of Zika swept the country last year, the D.C. Department of Health hosted three “Fight the Bite” events where officials handed out preventative items to District residents. The department is planning similar events this year as well, according to DOH public affairs specialist Jasmine Gossett.

While no mosquitoes in D.C. tested positive for Zika last year, there were at least two dozen locals who obtained the virus during international travels, including some who were initially given false-negative results by the D.C. Department of Forensic Sciences Public Health.

Thanks to increased humidity over time, D.C.’s mosquito season is 29 days longer than it was in 1980, according to a report released by Climate Central last summer.
