As D.C. locals Near Northeast prepare to release their sophomore album, True Mirror, the band recently gave audiences a taste of what to expect by debuting new single Indali. According to the band, the song was written based on a tragic event one of the members witnessed in San Francisco. The result is a meditation on life’s fragility, with a mood underscored with help from two classical Indian musicians. Join Near Northeast at St. Stephen and the Incarnation for its album release party, where the group performs with help from Lobo Marino, Soumya Chakraverty, Debu Nayak, Takunda M., and others. 7 p.m. $10. One dollar from every ticket sale will go St. Stephen’s program to feed the needy.
London’s deep house EDM duo, Eli and Fur, brings its hypnotic rhythms to U Street Music Hall with support from Shawn Q and Blinkhorn. 10 p.m. $10.

Get your dancing shoes on, becauseFunk Parade 2017 hits the streets. This year’s festival will feature over 100 musicians on 20 different stages. The Day Fair goes from noon to 7 p.m., with the parade itself taking place from 3 to 4 p.m. The festivities continue into the wee hours as U Street venues host a number of events.
