L.A.’s indie folk rock band Run River North comes to U Street Music Hall as part of its summer tour, promoting its newest EP, Superstition. Arkells and Cobi open. 7 p.m. $20.

The Lincoln Theater hosts Rhiannon Giddens, a singer-songwriter from Greensboro,
North Carolina. In addition to her solo career, Giddens is a founding member and lead vocalist, violinist, banjo player for the Grammy-winning country group Carolina Chocolate Drops. Alternative country singer-songwriter Amythyst Kiah opens. 6:30 p.m. $35.

Nashville rock quartet Savoy Motel comes to DC9. ESCAPE-ISM opens. 8:30 p.m. $12.

Promoting its most recent album, Prelude to War, The Family Crest comes to Rock and Roll Hotel with support from D.C.’s Wylder. 7 p.m. $15 advance, $17 day of.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 10

Electro-rocker Low Roar brings his haunting and sultry post-rock sounds as he supports San Fermin at 9:30 Club. 7 p.m. $20.

DC9 hosts Connecticut rockers Parsonsfield with Animal Years. 8:30 p.m. $12.

Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes come to Rock and Roll Hotel following the release of their newest album, Modern Ruin. Royal Republic and Witch Coast open the night. 7 p.m. $15.

THURSDAY, MAY 11

D.C. local progressive rock band Humble Fire will celebrate the release of the first single off of their newest album with a single release party at Black Cat. “Tailesin” precedes the full album, Builder, set to release in July, and is available for download when you pre-order the album. Tackling the impact of loss and self reconstruction, Builder, became an exercise of therapeutic discovery for the band, working through questions of identity and emotional struggles. Supporting Humble Fire for their single release are Seán Barna and one of the three members of CrushnPain. 7:30 p.m. $12.

Thursday Circus at Clarendon Grill presents three DMV bands: Curse Words, The Prahns, and Maryjo Mattea and a Pile of Dudes. 9 p.m. FREE.

At 80 years old, music and silver screen powerhouse Kris Kristofferson shows no signs of slowing down, performing at the Warner Theater. In a long list of accomplishments, Kristofferson not only wrote many classics for himself, but others as well, including Janis Joplin’s Me and Bobby McGee. He also formed the country music super group The Highwaymen with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004. 8 p.m. $50 – $75.

FRIDAY, MAY 12

Local D.C. soul-rock trio Run Come See are joined by New York rockers Anchorlot and Olivia Mancini at Rock and Roll Hotel. 8 p.m. $12.

L.A. duo The Palms come to DC9 with Me Not You. 6:30. $12.

The Midlands hosts blues rock group The Perfectionists, a District-based band led by Ginny Hill, featuring a diverse set of cover and original songs. 9 p.m. FREE.

SATURDAY, MAY 13

Broke Royals returns to Rock and Roll Hotel for its three year anniversary celebration. Praised by CBS as “one of the best up-and-coming bands” in D.C., Broke Royals continues to tour the East Coast consistently, opening for the likes of Life in Film and Lynyrd Skynyrd. They bring fellow D.C. synth-pop rockers Color Palette, coming up on the first anniversary of the release of their first full length album Vaporwave. Featuring original tracks written by lead vocalist Jay Nemeyer with Rogerio Naressi on keys, Joshua Hunter on lead guitar, Matt Hartenau on drums, and Maryjo Mattea on backing vocals, Color Palette can boast an impressive track record of performances, including opening for Charli XCX at American University’s welcome back show last August. Rounding out Broke Royals’s anniversary show is EXNATIONS, an alternative pop rock band. The group creates their signature sound by combining synth and organic elements for a unique experience. 7 p.m. $12.

San Diego rockers Wavves come to U Street Music Hall. 6:30 p.m. $20.

Kingman Island Bluegrass and Folk Festival returns for another year, bringing a wide variety of musician and other acts and activities for a day of celebration and fundraising. 93.9 WKYS for R&B Live features Trey Songz at the Warner Theater. A Virginia native, Songz has sold over 20 million albums and singles, won two Grammy nominations, and comes into 2017 with his seventh studio album Tremaine The Album. 6:30 p.m. $56.

Bostonian Josh Friedman, a.k.a. That One Eyed Kid, comes to Boundary Stone. 10 p.m. FREE.
