As recently as an hour ago, I wanted to be a duck in the District. But now I’m glad that I’m human because it means I will be able to bask in the glory that is Wawa when the convenience store meets hoagie heaven makes its way to D.C.

Popville had the story first, attributing it to “Jonah, who now is honored in the PoPville scuttlebutt hall of fame.” But you don’t have to believe Jonah or his scuttlebutt, because Popville had the receipts.

Wawa is creating a unique, “restaurant-style” location for the District, according to an invitation for “The Wawa Way Meets the Capital Beltway” presentation slated for June 13 at the Newseum, which Popville posted. At that presentation, Wawa senior leadership will explain its plans and timeline for entering D.C., including its precise location.

The incursion into D.C. is part of a larger expansion for the company, which plans to open three locations in Virginia this summer. It already has locations in Old Dominion, as well as Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Florida.

According to the company’s website, Wawa began as an iron foundry in New Jersey in 1803, opening its first Wawa Food Market in 1964 as an outpost of its dairy business. Now, the privately-held chain has more than 645 outposts, about half of which also serve gas.

Why is Wawa so great? Growing up in New Jersey, I remember the first time I walked into Wawa and saw the touchscreen customers used to order a hoagie. It blew my god damn mind. Now, you can find that technology in the airport, or on your cell phone, but that was a moment I will always cherish.

I’m not the only one. Wawa seems to illicit very strong reactions from its fans—and from its detractors. A rivalry on par with the Jets and Sharks exists between fans of Wawa and those of Sheetz, another regional convenience store.

What do you think is better, Wawa or Sheetz?
