D.C. is filled with passionate, opinionated people, right? WRONG. At least when it comes to GIFs, that is.

Graphic interchange format images, better known as GIFs, have become a shorthand way for people to wordlessly express their emotions. In the District, turns out that we’re mainly looking to share our apathy, given that D.C. folks search more for shrugging GIFs than other major metropolitans do, according to mobile GIF platform Tenor.

Washington D.C. is 8 percent more likely to search for shrugging GIFs, according to Tenor. But then again, maybe we shouldn’t read too much into our psyche based on these results, considering perennial chip-on-its-shoulder Boston searches for cuddle GIFs. On the other hand, Philadelphia is searching for “cry,” which sounds about right.

Tenor compiled the list of cities’ “emotional hotspots” in honor of the 30th anniversary of the GIF, which is Monday, May 28. While the moving images have been around for three decades, they’ve grown in popularity in recent years. Even the National Archives have gotten in on the action.

Here’s how all of the cities compared:
