The Obamas have purchased the Kalorama home they’ve been renting since decamping from the White House.

The former first family bought the 8,200 square foot mansion from its previous owner for $8.1 million, The Washington Post reports.

While the Obamas also still own a home in Chicago, they’ve said they’ll be sticking around D.C. until their youngest daughter, Sasha, graduates from Sidwell Friends.

“Given that President and Mrs. Obama will be in Washington for at least another two and a half years, it made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent property,” spokesman Kevin Lewis said in a statement.

The house previously belonged to Clinton White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart, now a National Football League executive, and former Glamour Washington Editor Giovanna Gray. They purchased the nine bedroom, eight and a half bathroom abode in 2014 for $5.295 million, according to The Post.

While the Obamas have spent much of their time traveling of late—they’ve been spotted in Germany and Italy recently—the former first lady has also spent some time surprising D.C. students with visits to their classrooms.

The Obamas aren’t the only family in Kalorama with a dedicated Secret Service crew. That group also includes current presidential family members and advisers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, who rent a home for $15,000 monthly, per the Wall Street Journal. Neighbors of Trump and Kushner have complained about the “three-ring circus” that the family brought to the neighborhood.

Protesters have staged demonstrations, like a queer dance party, in the area aimed at the Kushner/Trumps, which had the side effect of making at least one of their neighbors a viral star.

Another addition to the neighborhood was Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who spent $23 million to purchase the former Textile Museum, though he does not plan to turn the renovated residential space into a permanent home.

While Kalomora residents might not love all of the extra security and hoopla due to their new neighbors, it did recently help them win resident-only parking throughout the neighborhood, which they’d been trying to get for years.
