Metro Transit Police have arrested a man who they say repeatedly exposed himself on the Metro system.

Police have linked Louis Edward Smith to at least three recent incidents of indecent exposure on trains and buses throughout the region.

The first incident took place aboard a Metrobus in Prince George’s County on Memorial Day when a bus driver says she saw Smith masturbating while speaking to her. After calling for assistance, the bus driver told police that Smith spit on her and swore at her. He then fled the scene before officers arrived.

In an incident on a Blue Line train on Sunday in D.C., police say a witness captured Smith’s act of indecent exposure and shared the video with police.

Police say he struck again on a train traveling in PG County on Monday.

Smith, a 37-year-old from Oxon Hill, Md., was arrested by transit police officers at the Anacostia Metro station on Monday evening and charged with the offense that took place in D.C. Police have warrants for the Maryland offenses, which include two counts of indecent exposure and a second-degree assault charge for spitting on the bus driver.

Police say there may be other people who’ve witnessed Smith who haven’t come forward yet. Anyone with information regarding the case can call the MTPD’s criminal investigations division at 301-955-5000.
