Drivers should steer clear of roads near Freedom Plaza and Dupont Circle on Saturday as a 5K and annual Capital Pride festivities will block car traffic from dozens of streets throughout the day.

Participants in the Purple Stride 5K (to end pancreatic cancer) will gather at Freedom Plaza in the morning and walk near the Capitol and back, causing several road closures along Pennsylvania and Constitution avenues.

On Saturday afternoon, the Pride block party is closing a section of 15th Street NW, from P to Church streets, between noon and midnight, while the parade is closing multiple streets near Dupont Circle from 1 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Perhaps this is a good weekend to hop on Metrorail, which is axing most of its maintenance projects to make for largely delay-free commutes.

Here are all of the road closures via the Metropolitan Police Department:

Purple Stride 5k

The following streets will be closed for set up on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. through Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.:

  • Pennsylvania Avenue, NW from 12th Street to 14th Street

  • 13th Street, NW from Pennsylvania Avenue to E Street, NW

The following street closures will occur on Saturday June 10, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.:

  • Pennsylvania Avenue, NW from 12th Street to 3rd Street, NW

  • 12th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW

  • 11th Street from E Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

  • 10th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW

  • 9th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW

  • 7th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW

  • 6th Street from E Street, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW

  • 4th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Madison Drive, NW

  • 3rd Street from Constitution Avenue, NW to E Street, SW

  • 6th Street from Independence Avenue, SW to D Street, SW

  • Independence Avenue, SW from 7th to 3rd Streets, SW

  • 4th Street from E Street, SW to Independence Avenue, SW

Capital Pride Block Party

On Saturday, June 10, 2017, the following closure will be in effect for the 2017 Capital Pride Block Party.

The following street will be closed from 12:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m.

  • 15th Street, NW from P Street, NW to Church Street, NW

Capital Pride Assembly Area

The Capital Pride Parade will stage at the following locations and will be closed from 1:00 pm to 7:30 pm:

  • 23rd Street, Northwest between N Street and Q Street

  • 22nd Street, Northwest between N Street and Q Street

  • N Street, Northwest between 21st Street and 23rd Street

  • Newport Street, Northwest between 21st Street and 22nd Street

  • O Street, Northwest between 21st Street and 22nd Street

  • Q Street, Northwest between 23rd Street and Massachusetts Avenue, NW

Capital Pride Parade Route

The parade will start at 4:30 p.m. and will form at 22nd Street and P Street, NW and will proceed over the following route:

  • East on P Street to Dupont Circle

  • Northeast around Dupont Circle to New Hampshire Avenue

  • Northeast on New Hampshire Avenue to R Street

  • East on R Street to 17th Street

  • South on 17th Street to P Street

  • East on P Street to 14th Street

  • North on 14th Street to T Street where they will disband.

All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.
