The Wharf, the massive development taking shape along the Southwest waterfront, is already home to one much-anticipated music venue, The Anthem, a 6,000 seat space from the owners of 9:30 Club set to open in October. Now, the team behind another well-loved venue, Vienna’s Jammin’ Java, is getting in on the action by bring a smaller facility, Union Stage, to the $2 billion construction project.

This is welcome news to District residents who appreciate the programming at Jammin’ Java, but find the location inaccessible. The standing room capacity is expected to be around 450 people, and shows will begin taking place this fall.

According to a statement from the owners, brothers Daniel, Luke, and Jonathan Brindly, Union Stage “will be roughly twice the size of Jammin Java, have several bars, a full kitchen, world-class sound and lights, plenty of parking, and so much more.”
