Jewelry company Brilliant Earth sorted through over 100,000 posts to find the top spots around the country where people shared their engagement on Instagram. They found over 760 posts geotagged to D.C. that used the most popular engagement hashtags #shesaidyes and #engaged. They then narrowed down the results to those taken during “proposal season” from November 1, 2016 through January 5, 2017. According to this very specific set of data, these are the top five places in the District where couples took an engagement selfie:
5. The Mall
Especially by the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial (Photo by Lukas Schlagenhauf)
Just make sure there’s not a herd of Segways in the background.
4. Union Station
Couples particularly like the southern side of the building off of Pennsylvania Avenue. (Photo by brownpau)
Ideal for lovers of soaring archways and public transportation.
3. Georgetown
Particularly at Georgetown Waterfront Park by Fiola Mare restaurant, and by other parts of the Potomac River. (Photo by P. Morrissey)
Pop your collar, then pop the question?
2. Alexandria

Not actually D.C., but Alexandria is very charming.
1. The White House

But, of course, D.C.’s wonky paramours would pop the question at the White House.
Other interesting tidbits unearthed by their analysis? Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday are the most common days that people choose to share their engagement, not the weekend as one might suppose.
Also, D.C. did not make it into the top 10 cities that share their engagement news on Instagram—those honors go to San Antonio and Bakersfield. Here’s the list of the most likely cities most likely to ‘gram about their impending nuptial bliss:
1. San Antonio,Texas
2. Bakersfield, California
3. Stockton, California
4. Wichita, Kansas
5. Albuquerque, New Mexico
6. Omaha, Nebraska
7. Toledo, Ohio
8. Baton Rouge, Louisiana
9. Tucson, Arizona
10. Fort Wayne, Indiana
