Police say an elderly man appears to have murdered his wife before killing himself in East Falls Church on Monday.
Around 2:45 p.m., officials found 81-year-old Masao Matsumoto and 82-year-old Terry Lynn Matsumoto dead inside of their home in the 2400 block of N. Quantico Street, according to a release from the Arlington County Police Department. They both had gunshot wounds.
Police are investigating the case as an apparent murder-suicide, with Terry Lynn identified as the victim. Detectives are still looking into what happened leading up to the shootings.
“It’s very strange,” a neighbor told ARL Now. “We’re kind of a quiet neighborhood.”
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will will determine the final cause of death.
