The Green Line’s Branch Avenue and Suitland stations will close on Metrorail this weekend and remain shuttered for two weeks as part of a major improvement project. And this is the last weekend that Medical Center and Bethesda stations will closed due to a waterproofing project on the Red Line.

The Green Line shutdown is happening from August 5-20. Naylor Road station will also close for the project, but only during the weekends of August 12-13 and 19-20.

Crews will be rebuilding a cross-over where trains can move from one track to another. This type of project “is most safely and effectively executed” when both tracks are out of service, according to a Metro release. During this time, crews will also do some rehabilitation work at stations and preventive maintenance.

Free shuttle buses will operate on three routes to get Green Line passengers to their destinations. There will also be free shuttle buses for Red Line riders traveling between Friendship Heights and Grosvenor.

Elsewhere on Metrorail, Yellow Line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals between Huntington and Mount Vernon Square only. And there’s no scheduled maintenance on the Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines.
