“I’m telling you man, I know some Hamilton,” says Washington football team quarterback Kirk Cousins, right after rapping a few bars from “Alexander Hamilton,” the opening song from the Broadway smash hit at training camp, courtesy of CSN Atlantic.
Turns out he, like a ton of other locals, is hoping to catch the show when it comes to the Kennedy Center in 2018. (Whether Cousins will still be sporting the Red-and-Gold then is still an open question, as he and the team do not have a long-term contract in place.)
It’s no surprise that Cousins is into showtunes. He makes no secret of his love for Lord of the Rings, among other dorky pursuits.
“I joke with people—and Kyle Shanahan used to say this—that my swagger is having no swagger, but that kind of becomes my thing,” Cousins told The Washington Post last fall. “That’s just kind of the way I am, and I almost try to play off of that and celebrate that. We’ve got too many cool guys for me to try to be cool. We’ve got enough of that. I can just be boring and dorky.”
