After investigative reporting revealed that Harvey Weinstein had been sexually abusing and harassing women for decades, and more stories of misconduct continue to emerge, some doors are beginning to close in the Hollywood mega producer’s face.
He’s been fired from the studio he helped found, his wife is leaving him, and politicians are expressing their disgust with his behavior.
The latest entity to distance itself from the alleged serial abuser? The Kennedy Center.
A planned sit down between Weinstein and Kennedy Center Board Chairman David M. Rubenstein for November 2 has been wiped clean from the arts center’s website calendar.
It would have been the third in a series of “Profiles in Creativity,” which “offers rare, personal discussion with extraordinary men and women who have made history through their creative achievements.” Launched in April with an interview with Rita Moreno, the series has also featured a conversation with Bernadette Peters over the summer.
Weinstein was slated to be the third participant, but the Kennedy Center confirms that the event will no longer take place. People who’ve already gotten tickets can get a refund, along with the chance to purchase the next Profiles in Courage tickets before the general public.
