The route for the 2017 Marine Corps Marathon.

With 30,000 people running the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday, and who knows how many friends and family members cheering them on, getting around is going to be rough.

Dozens of streets will be closed for the entire morning around Georgetown, Rock Creek Park, and the National Mall. Metro will be open two hours early, but take note that the Silver Line is only running at its tail end.

Saturday will present its own set of challenges for driving around D.C., with Howard’s homecoming festivities affecting a number of streets around U Street, Shaw, and LeDroit Park.

On Saturday, the below streets will be closed between 9:30 a.m. and noon for Howard’s homecoming parade, per MPD:

• Georgia Avenue, NW, from Columbia Road, NW, to Florida Avenue, NW
• 7th Street, NW, from Florida Avenue, NW, to S Street, NW

On Sunday, the Marine Corps Marathon begins at 8 a.m. in Arlington before crossing into D.C. These streets will be closed starting at 5 a.m. All are expected to be opened by 1 p.m.
