Rose McGowan is wanted by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department on a felony drug possession charge, stemming from a flight she took to Dulles International Airport in January.

“She left behind a personal item that was later picked up and reported to our police department by our employees. Upon examining the item, they found traces of a substance that was later identified as a narcotic,” spokesperson Rob Yingling said in a statement provided to DCist.

McGowan, who has become a prominent voice in the wake of recent reporting on Harvey Weinstein’s history of alleged sexual harassment and abuse, called the charges “horseshit” in a tweet on Monday and speculated it might be retaliation for her outspokenness.

She added “FACT” to a tweet that said if she “would have taken that million dollars in hush money I’m quite sure this wouldn’t even be a headline” (a reference to news this week that the McGowan was offered and turned down a million dollars from Weinstein earlier this fall to sign a nondisclosure agreement about the actress’ claim that the Hollywood producer raped her). McGowan had also been briefly suspended from Twitter, which the company later said was due to a screenshot that included a phone number, sparking similar allegations that she was being punished for her advocacy.

McGowan arrived at Dulles on January 20th, ahead of the Women’s March. The warrant was issued on February 1, and Yingling said that while efforts were made to reach out to the actress, she has not yet been served.

“The warrant is in a national law enforcement database. If she were to have an encounter with a police officer somewhere and they were to run a records check this would come up,” he said. The case has been referred to a court in Loudoun County.
