Regular riders of the D.C. Circulator will find two regular routes eliminated and two new lines their place starting on Sunday, June 24.
The District Department of Transportation is getting rid of its Union Station-Navy Yard route entirely, and adding a new service from Eastern Market to L’Enfant Plaza. It will have stops along the Navy Yard, Waterfront, and The Wharf and remain in operation from 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. on weekends.
The Potomac Avenue-Skyland route, which currently runs between the Potomac Avenue Metro and the Skyland shopping system, is also being reconfigured and will no longer serve either of those endpoints. Metrobus will run additional service on its 92, U8, and W4 routes to serve those riders.
In its place is a new line, which will go from the Congress Heights Metro to Union Station through Anacostia and Barracks Row. It will be in operation from 6 a.m. – 9 p.m, on weekdays and 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. on weekends.
DDOT is also making late-night weekend service permanent on the entire Georgetown – Union Station route, running until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
And the agency is getting rid of Circulator-specific paper bus tickets (the Metro system stopped using them in 2016).
