It’s here: the dreaded Red Line maintenance that’s shutting down two stations until September starts this weekend. Build your weekend plans around it—and all other plans, until September 3.

The shutdown is happening between NoMa-Gallaudet and Fort Totten, which means two stations are closed: Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood and Brookland. Shuttle buses will replaces trains at those stations. Metro is suggesting that you allow for 10 minutes of travel time for each stop. The closure will allow the transit authority to perform some major repairs at Rhode Island Ave, including rebuilding deteriorating platforms and bringing things into ADA compliance.

Travel times are a little rough on other lines, too, though no other stations will be closed. The Orange, Blue, and Silver lines are all running every 26 minutes this weekend, and the Silver line will only be running between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston to allow for some repair work on the Orange and Blue lines. Trains are running every 15 minutes on the Yellow and Green lines, but the Yellow Line is only traveling from Huntington to Mount Vernon Square to allow for some work on the Green Line.
