D.C. police confirmed that officers gave the all-clear in an active shooter threat at MedStar Washington Hospital Center shortly before noon on Thursday. MedStar hospital said that a person made verbal threats to staff at the cancer center.

No one was injured in the incident.

“MedStar Washington Hospital Center has resumed normal operations following reports of an individual entering our cancer center who made verbal threats to hurt one of our staff members. No weapon was seen,” says So Young Pak, a spokesperson for Medstar Washington Hospital Center.

Officers received a call about a shooting threat at 10:19 a.m. and sent officers over.

Officers were canvassing the area Thursday morning searching for a man dressed in all black and carrying a black backpack, according to a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Department. It’s unclear if a suspect has been apprehended.

Pak confirmed to DCist that D.C. police were on campus looking into the threat, and the MedStar hospital campus was on lockdown at one point. Other hospitals in the area—the Veterans Affairs Hospital, Washington Hospital Physician Building, and the Children’s National Medical Center—were also on lockdown Thursday morning before police gave the all-clear.
