Hate to break it to you, but it’s about to get gloomy outside. Find shelter this weekend at a museum festival, a trivia night, and an art exhibit.
Skip happy hour, party at a museum instead
The Freer/Sackler Galleries have stacked their latest after-hours party with D.C. talent. DJ Ayes Cold and musician Huda Asfour will be providing entertainment on the museum’s steps, including with a musical improv set. Inside amid the air conditioning, grab a peek at Freer/Sackler exhibits or catch a screening of the Hong Kong action film Paradox. On the not-free side, Dorjee Tsering of Dorjee Momo is serving up Tibetan cuisine in a traditional nomad tent; Ruby Scoops will offer Asian-inspired sweets; and Z&Z will have Middle Eastern street food available for purchase.
Smithsonian’s Freer and Sackler Galleries, Friday, 5 p.m.-8 p.m.
Spend a weekend learning about sustainability
Still fired up about plastic straws? Channel your passion for the ecosystem into a celebration at the National Museum of the American Indian’s ninth annual Living Earth Festival, dedicated to exploring ways native communities integrate sustainable practices into their cultural heritage. The weekend is chock-full of events: There are sessions on food security in the Arctic, the use of vertical gardens for growing crops on mountainsides, and a community in Hawaii that’s using farming to fight a food desert and high unemployment. Each day caps off with a free tasting of Twisted Cedar Native American Wines (unlike the rest of the all-ages fest, that part is only open for those 21 and up.)

Speed-read to train for trivia glory
Gather up all of your Jeopardy!-obsessed pals and head to Politics and Prose for a trivia night that’s for nerds—their words, not ours. Expect questions about D.C. factoids and, of course, books. Prizes will be awarded to the team we assume will be called Top Nerds. Beer and wine will be available for purchase in The Den downstairs.
Politics and Prose, Saturday, 8 p.m.
Hide from the rain with some art
We’re in denial about the bad weather next week, but even if skies overhead weren’t expected to be gloomy, we’d be headed to Arena Stage to check out some art—and not just the the onstage kind. Their exhibit Cuban Slugger showcases the work of artist Reynerio Tamayo, known for poking fun at public figures with his caricatures. In this collection, however, Tamayo takes an earnest look at Americans’ and Cubans’ shared love of baseball.
Arena Stage, through June 29, 12 p.m.-8 p.m.
Use your baby for fitness
Listen, weather forecasts could be wrong, so go ahead and put an outdoor workout class on your calendar. Put your baby to work, finally, by using them as part of a free exercise class from Fit4Mom on Sunday. At Stroller Strides class, you’ll use your baby’s stroller for balance and support during a 60-minute cardio and strength routine. The first 15 to arrive for class will receive a $2 token to the nearby Capitol Riverfront farmers market, where you can grab a smoothie to follow your grueling workout, and your baby can continue sleeping, probably. If that rain does happen, Fit4Mom will email registrants about an alternate location.

BONUS: There’s actual puppy soccer tournament happening on Saturday.
