Metro is having a particularly chaotic week. This morning around 8 a.m., an “unauthorized person” leaped onto the tracks of the Yellow and Green lines at Gallery Place, causing delays in both directions.

The unidentified man was on the tracks for around 15 minutes before being apprehended by transit police, according to Metro. Later in the morning, Metro announced that the man was a suspect in a shooting that occurred Tuesday in the 200 block of D Street NW.
Metro Transit Police had captured footage on security cameras of a man fitting the suspect’s description entering Judiciary Square station shortly after the shooting on Tuesday, WMATA said in a press release. On Wednesday morning, MTPD officers spotted the man waiting for a Red Line train at Gallery Place. When they approached him, he jumped over a wall and onto the Green and Yellow Line tracks below.
Several passersby took photos and videos of the man as he was on the tracks.

The transit agency also later released security footage of the man’s fall.
Officers apprehended the suspect on the tracks. The man reportedly injured his leg in the fall and had to be transported to the hospital, though the injury was not life-threatening, according to Metro. Officers said they also recovered a semi-automatic handgun from the man at the scene.
