Quick: before it gets hot again, take advantage of outdoor jazz and yoga, or even do a little post-happy hour shopping for hiking boots.

Oh just go to Jazz in the Garden already
We know, we know: Jazz in the Garden is a pretty amateur move when listing things to do in D.C. But seriously, this is the night to pack up your picnic basket and succumb to one of the District’s favorite summer traditions—it’s the last show of the season, and the flock of interns have (mostly) all returned to school. More sangria for you! Tonight’s tunes come from funk quartet Speakers of the House.
National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden, Friday, 5 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

Have a drink in the outdoor s(tore)
Is the outdoor supply store the new speakeasy? We look forward to writing that headline for a trend story, so we hope tonight’s happy hour becomes a permanent fixture at REI. Tonight’s gathering is an event related to Outessafest, the inaugural music festival from REI and Brightest Young Things coming to D.C. next month. Enjoy complimentary cocktails from Lyon Distilling and snacks from Manos de Maiz, plus music from DJ Damn Kham and a chance to win tickets to the fest. Registration is required—we recommend getting there on the early side: REI isn’t guaranteeing drinks will be available all night.
REI, Friday, 5 p.m.-7 p.m.,

Be a part of a real circus
Usually, Arena Stage is where you go when you want to drop some serious cash on tickets to a splashy play or musical. But on its annual community day, the sleek theater turns into a real circus. The day includes live music, acrobatic performances, juggling lessons, storytelling, face painting, and pony rides. Think of how close you could be to reenacting your favorite scenes from The Greatest Showman! Because showbusiness really takes it out of you, there will also be food from Southwest restaurants, including Del Mar and Station 4.
Arena Stage, Saturday, 12 p.m.-6 p.m.

Get bendy before brunch
Yoga at the farmers market isn’t just the setting for a Portlandia sketch that probably exists, it could be your Sunday at 9 a.m. Rise and shine for some free yoga at the NoMa FRESHFARM market from Yoga Noma’s Christine Barford, and follow it up with a little healthy shopping so that you don’t immediately eat all the ice cream in your freezer post-workout (just us?).
Yoga NoMa, Sunday, 9 a.m.-10 a.m.

Fuel up, without Starbucks
Not to brag, but we know some pretty impressive coffee terms, such as “Hi, can I have a medium cold brew please?” Beef up your own java knowledge at Commonwealth Joe’s weekly coffee cupping, where you’ll learn how to taste and evaluate coffee like a real barista. Register quick, space is limited.
Commonwealth Joe, Sunday, 10 a.m.-11 a.m.
