Hallelujah: the 45-day, 24/7 Red Line shutdown is coming to an end. But you’ll have to deal with it for one more weekend.
This Saturday through Monday, the Rhode Island Ave and Brookland Stations will continue to be closed, with shuttles replacing trains there. Metro has been busy doing major repair work to deteriorating platforms and bringing them into ADA compliance.
The Green Line will be single-tracking between L’Enfant Plaza and Navy Yard to allow for cable installation, so you can talk on your cellphone in the tunnels. The Yellow Line will only be traveling up to Mount Vernon Square to allow for work on the Green Line.
The only problem-free lines are Orange, Blue, and Silver, which will run regular weekend service after previously scheduled track work was cancelled.
On Labor day, trains will run on a Sunday schedule. The system opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m.
