The 45-day shut down may be over, but Metro is still Metro, and the Red Line will still be kind of a nightmare this weekend.
On Sunday, a quarterly emergency response drill is happening at Gallery Place from opening until 2 p.m., throwing off service at several stations.
From opening on Sunday until 2 p.m., both Gallery Place and Metro Center will be closed on the Red Line platforms (other lines will still be open). Shuttle buses will operate between Farragut North, Metro Center, Gallery Place, and Judiciary Square. Otherwise, Red Line trains will be operating 15 minutes apart.
The Largo Town Center Station on the Blue Line will also be closed all weekend for grout pad renewal.
The Orange, Silver, and Yellow lines will be at normal weekend service most of the day Saturday, but starting at 10 p.m. Saturday night and through Sunday, trains will be operating 24 minutes apart.
The Green Line, mercifully, will operate at regular weekend service on both Saturday and Sunday.
