The spot that bills itself as D.C.’s only retro arcade bar will itself become a thing of the past.
Atlas Arcade is shuttering at the end of September after seven years in business on H Street NE, the establishment announced on social media.
We regret to inform you that Atlas Arcade will be closing its doors at the end of the month. We had a blast serving you and enabling your inner child for the last seven years, but all things must come to an end. Come by and see us before we leave! pic.twitter.com/6WTK5XIWw3

DCist has named Atlas Arcade among the most entertaining bars and the best places to get a cheap beer in D.C.
The change comes a few months after owner Erik Holzherr opened what he described as “sexy nerd bar” Idle Hands upstairs from Atlas Arcade. It replaced his previous bar in the location, Church and State. Idle Hands initially courted controversy by advertising “drunken Twister with strangers” and a “casting couch,” which has since been renamed a “gaming couch.” (He later apologized to those “who were offended by some of the language in our initial marketing campaign.”) Holzherr also owns Capitol Hill’s Wisdom.
We’ve reached out to Holzherr to inquire about Atlas Arcade’s closure, and will update if we hear back. Before it shuts down, Atlas Arcade promises drink specials throughout the month and swag giveaways on Sundays.
