If your Monday is starting a bit slow, perhaps you need a role model. Someone with a can-do spirit and the courage to dream big.

What you need is this rat.

NBC Washington acquired security camera footage of a rat that set off a fire alarm at a D.C. condo building last summer. The outlet provides scant details about a moment that rat historians centuries from now will likely mark as a tipping point.

Here’s what we can glean from the stop-motion security camera footage. Like a graceful acrobat, it scampers along the handrail. It investigates the contraption known to humans as a fire alarm. And then, with great determination, it takes a leap. It pulls the lever and tries to hold onto it, ultimately failing to secure its grip. But by then, the deed is done.

A lesson: even in success, there are pratfalls.

Why?, some may ask. A coincidence, perhaps. But think about this: what happens during a fire alarm, when all the humans scurry outside? Lots of open doors, that’s what. What if this rat was creating a diversion for all of its friends and family to move in? I’ve seen Ratatouille—I know a thing or two about what these creatures are capable of.

Even though rat complaints in the city keep increasing, I think we should thank this creature for helping us redefine what is possible. Please don’t attack me during the inevitable rat takeover of D.C.
