Taylor Gourmet will close all of its locations in the District after Sunday, September 23, reports Washingtonian.
The news comes on the heels of an announcement that the D.C. sandwich chain is closing both of its Chicago locations (which just opened this year) on Friday.
The company will soon file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, according to Washingtonian.
Unnamed sources told the magazine that sales declined after the chain’s co-founder, Casey Patten, sat down at a roundtable with a just-inaugurated President Donald Trump.
“Our sales dropped 40 percent the next day,” one source told Washingtonian. “And it persisted and never really got any better.”
Spokespeople for the company told the magazine that, in fact, they just expanded too quickly.
There have been whispers about some D.C. locations closing since earlier this month.
Patten has come under fire in recent months for abandoning a home he purchased on H Street NE mid-renovation, causing damage to his neighbors’ properties.
