The music Look Vibrant serves up is anything but ordinary, taking unexpected harmonic, instrumental, and lyrical turns at any given moment. Case in point? “Cauliflower,” which weaves in and out of time, opts for unconventional scales and is so layered that it’s a bit of a magic-eye painting for the ear. On Caleb Hawley‘s recent EP, Sex Tape (which was engineered to accompany the aforementioned activity), you can almost hear the drool as the Minneapolis-bred, Prince-esque vocalist covers Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing” and a very saucy version of Randy Newman’s “You Can Leave Your Hat On.” But it’s his rendition of Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” that somehow feels the most inspired.
