Pull out the decorations and wrap the gifts: National Cat Day is Monday (we know, it seems to come earlier every year).

Naturally, D.C.’s first and only cat cafe Crumbs & Whiskers is getting in on the action. On Sunday, the city’s foremost purveyor of felines and java will offer free 30-minute “experiences” (fancy word for “cuddle and awwwww sessions”) and free coffee. On any other day, communing with the cats for a 70-minute period will set you back $22.

There’s one downside: Instead of booking a reservation as per usual, patient cat lovers will have to queue up for first-come, first-served admission. While you’re waiting in line, Olivia Macaron will offer free coffee and La Colombe will be offering a surprise giveaway.

But once you’re inside, just look at the new friends you’ll make! There’s Gus, who I feel would be a chill companion …

… and his sister Jenny Craig, who looks like she cannot believe someone would be rude enough to name her Jenny Craig.

Daphne, who honestly looks like she’d bully me.

And plenty of others. If you fall in love with one of them, keep in mind: Adoptions won’t be free, and same-day adoptions won’t be available. Good thing the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is waiving adoption fees on all adult cats this weekend.

Crumbs and Whiskers offers free coffee and cats on Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
