Election Day cocktails at MXDC include The Patriot, left, and The Statesman.

MXDC

While it’s nice to say that voting is its own reward, we’d rather have a cocktail when we’re done waiting in all those lines. Now that you’ve made an informed decision, celebrate democracy well done—or fret over the returns—with these election watch parties and specials. (And before you remind us, you narcs, we know: Rewarding people for their votes is technically illegal. Just don’t send this post to any cops, ok?)

RESULTS WATCH PARTIES

Roofers UnionThe three-story Adams Morgan restaurant will have TVs showing election results. Happy hour, including some $3 drafts beers and $5 wines and spirits, will last all night.

National Press ClubFor $95, you’ll get access to an open bar and hors d’oeuvres at the esteemed members-only journalists hangout. Special guests are said to be on hand, including former Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele and former American Conservative Union Chairman David Keene.

The Watergate HotelThe hotel’s Kingbird Restaurant and rooftop Top of the Gate bar will both be streaming election coverage.

Liaison Capitol Hill: In addition to showing election results starting at 6 p.m., the hotel will also offer a sample of Republic Restoratives bourbon to election-watchers who show up in a bow tie.

Hamilton HotelYou could bite your nails over the returns at any ole watch party, but at this Franklin Square hotel, puppies will be on hand for snuggling away your election stress. Five puppies from the People. Animals. Love. will grace the hotel’s lobby from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesday (if things get really bad, know that the puppies are all available for adoption). Hamilton’s 14K restaurant will be airing election coverage from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. (yikes!) and will offer results guessing games with prizes for winners.

Mission Navy YardCarb-load through a stressful night with $8 quesadillas at this Mexican restaurant near Southeast. The $7 margaritas, $5 drafts, and $5 tequila shots will be flowing all night long, and good luck escaping the news: Election coverage will be playing on 16 big-screen TVs around the restaurant.

Red DerbyThis Columbia Heights dive will be showing election coverage downstairs and on its always-stellar roof. Regular happy hour takes $1 off the price of all drinks from 5 p.m.-8 p.m.

Reliable Tavern: Texas Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke’s ardent fans are gathering at the Petworth bar to watch the returns of the hotly-contested race. The night includes Texan favorites like kolaches and Frito pie, as well as drink specials.

MXDC Cocina Mexicana: The 14th Street Mexican spot is offering two Election Day-exclusive cocktails, both $6. There’s The Statesman, made with tequila, blue curacao, cordial, lime, and agave, and The Patriot, with tequila, strawberry-guava puree, cordial, lime, and agave. One is red and the other blue, of course, which is bad news for Republicans with a hankering for blue curacao.

Busboys & Poets: All locations will be showing election results all night. Signature cocktails, normally $10, will be $6 all day.
