HIGH FASHION: Founded in 2005 by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Rodarte is known for its meticulous craftsmanship and generous use of chiffon. Get a preview of the new National Museum of Women in the Arts’ exhibition featuring more than 90 looks from the fashion house at an opening party featuring an open bar and fare from Centrolina. FREE YOURSELF UP: The members of Lake Street Dive met while in music school—Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music, to be precise. Together, the group applies a pop sheen to jazz instrumentation, drawing from soul and folk, too. They’ll share tracks from their newest album, Free Yourself Up, at The Anthem with Jalen N’Gonda opening. (The Anthem, doors 6:30 p.m., show 8 p.m., $45-$75)

SILHOUETTE STUDY: Get inspired by the current National Portrait Gallery exhibition on early image capturing Black Out: Silhouettes Then and Now with Strike a Prose: Family Stories, a creative writing seminar featuring reading, discussion, and guided writing exercises. JOYEUX NOËL: Featuring music in English, French, German, Italian, and Latin, the hopeful story of Silent Night is based on the World War I Christmas truces of 1914. Performances by the Washington National Opera run through Nov. 25. (The Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater, 7:00 p.m., $35-$199)

IN MEMORY: This year’s second annual Día de los Muertos Benefit Festival will benefit CARECEN DC to assist with reunification of children separated from their families due to immigration policies. The event will feature live performances and face and sugar skull painting. If you go, CARECEN asks that you bring photos, belongings, and favorite foods of loved ones to add to altars. DAVID COMES TO LIFE: Toronto’s Fucked Up makes high-concept hardcore, from rock operas to singles based on the Chinese zodiac. Earlier this year, the band released a stellar double LP, Dose Your Dreams, that works in mythology from earlier records with maniac fervor and magical detail. MORNING MEMORIAL: The 65th annual National Veterans Day Observance begins with a wreath-laying ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The event is free and open to the public, but large crowds are expected. Arrive no later than 9:30 a.m. for your best to ensure seating. (Arlington National Cemetery, 11 a.m., FREE)

HONORING IN SONG: The Washington National Cathedral Choir and the United States Marine Orchestra honor the legacy of the Armed Forces at the annual National Veterans Day Concert. The evening features stories of those who have served. Limited tickets are available—if you miss out, the event will also be livestreamed. (National Cathedral, 5 p.m., FREE)
