PLAY AROUND: Signature Theatre hosts a special Pride Night edition of Billy Elliot, the Tony Award-winning musical based on the 2000 film about ballet, coal mining, and trade union disputes, which runs through January 6. The Potter’s House holiday art and vendor market runs Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and again Sunday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Appointed’s holiday market features holiday treats and complimentary gift-wrapping from from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. While you’re there, make a holiday garland at a workshop led by Sidra Forman. TO CHRISTMAS AND BEYOND: Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown is a shopping destination any time of the year, but this season, Pop Georgetown brings all things local—think art, clothing, packaged food, and more—to the neighborhood. SANTATHLETIC WEAR: Roosevelt Island’s weekly parkrun goes all out for the holidays with an ugly sweater-themed iteration. The timed 5k travels around the entirety of the island. (Roosevelt Island, 9:00 a.m., FREE)
SING IT: The Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington’s holiday show takes over Lincoln Theatre with three weekend performances of Christmastime classics. WHIP IT: DC Rollergirls close out the 2018 season with a doubleheader. Our National Maulers take on the Free State Roller Derby Black Eyed Suzies and D.C.’s Capitol Offenders battle the Southern Maryland Roller Derby.
