Forget resolutions: Indulge your taste for wine or beer with educational tastings. There are also a few book talks and story sharing sessions worth committing to your calendar this week.

MONDAY, JANUARY 7

SWEEP: Curling, as you may recall from last year’s Winter Olympics, puts shuffleboard on ice, adding a few hockey-inspired moves to the rules. (And it’s way harder than it looks.) Wear soft-soled sneakers and try your hand at the Canadian game (or just sip on some winter drinks) at Curling & Cocktails every Monday this month. (The Wharf, 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m., FREE)

GAME NIGHT: Start you week with a true classic. You’ve got two free chances to play Bingo with DC Fray: Pizzeria Paradiso Georgetown’s game kicks off at 7 p.m., or head to Kingfisher in Logan Circle for an 8 p.m. round.

TIDE VS. TIGERS: The College Football National Championship game kicks off at 8 p.m., and there are plenty of chances to watch with like-minded fans. Alabama’s Alumni Club will meet at Willies Brew & Que beginning at 5 p.m., and Clemson fans will convene at Mission Navy Yard at 8 p.m. There’s free entry to both events, but feasting on barbecue and tacos, respectively, will cost you.
