Get in line at the D.C. Arts Center

The D.C. Arts Center celebrates its 30th birthday this year. To kick off a year of celebration, artist John Ros has created a piece just for the DCAC’s headquarters in the heart of Adams Morgan. The work, _lineation_ is a piece of line-focused work that, according to the museum, is meant “to help visitors become more aware of their surroundings.” The exhibition opens Friday with a reception.
D.C. Arts Center, Friday-February 17, opening reception Friday, 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

Dance the Sunday away at Showtime

We all know Granny rules Sundays at Showtime Bar in Bloomingdale, but on MLK weekend, she’ll be followed by another act. Chicago-born DJ Diaspora headlines Afrofunky MLK Sunday, a set of Afro-Latin funk, disco, and house music. In her tracks, Diaspora will be hiding samples of speech from black leaders, including Kwame Ture and Martin Luther King Jr. Tell her you you caught the hidden message, and your drink is on the house.
Showtime Bar, Sunday, 10 p.m.-2 a.m.

Snack locally at Union Kitchen
