Huddle round, friends, and hear of the No Good, Very Cold Days in our immediate future.

The National Weather Service has issued a weather advisory warning for Tuesday in the District, with rain freezing into one to two inches of snow in the afternoon and early evening. Forecasters warn that the roads could quickly freeze over during the evening commute.

And that’s just the beginning of a frigid spell of weather about to hit Washington, just as furloughed workers are finally headed back to work.

“Back to back cold fronts will slice through the eastern two-thirds of the country to deliver one of the coldest arctic air intrusions in recent memory,” NWS warns.

On Wednesday, wind chills are expected to drop into the single digits and wind gusts will get up to 35-40 mph. And the Capital Weather Gang predicts that Thursday will likely be the coldest day of the winter so far.
