About 50 Capital Bikeshare stations—10 percent of the system—are out of service. Members received alerts late on Thursday afternoon advising them that the system “will resolve this issue as soon as possible.”
The stations got disconnected from the network on Wednesday, according to Capital Bikeshare’s social media account, which posted a message saying it was “experiencing software issues at a significant # of stations that may prevent rentals.”
More than a day later, they still haven’t been able to resolve the issue. “It is taking us longer than we expected to bring all of the stations back on-line and we apologize that these stations remain out of service,” Bikeshare said today.
You can check for out-of-service stations here (they’re shaded in gray and labeled “inactive”). The inactive stations span the city, with a fair amount in Capitol Hill, Georgetown, and across the Potomac in Arlington.
Bikeshare says that if you think you might’ve incurred overage fees due to the station unavailability, you can email customerservice@capitalbikeshare.com or call 1-877-430-2453.
