Regardless of whether the weather changes, March marks the start of spring, and there’s no better way to celebrate than earning some endorphins on a run.
One of the largest racing events this month is the annual Rock N’ Roll race series—but even if you aren’t participating, there are plenty of other races to choose from. This month’s picks range from the 5K (3.1 miles) race to the marathon (26.2 miles).
While the weather is slowly beginning to warm, it doesn’t hurt to keep layers handy and be wary of the black ice when it patches the roads.
Reston, Virginia: Reston 10 Miler
Approximately one month before the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler, test your 10-mile race pace in Northern Virginia. The Reston 10 Miler will have overall and age group awards—and net proceeds will benefit the South Lakes High School Track and Field program.
You can pick up your race packet the day before or the morning of—but we recommend going on Saturday so you don’t have to look for parking.
Perks: If you pre-register you are guaranteed a long sleeve shirt, all finishers get a medal, and there are free race photos.
