Though this wet weather weekend is likely to give more rain than snow, D.C. residents might be able to expect more wintry weather conditions Sunday night.
There’s a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Slight drizzle, beginning late afternoon, is expected to turn into rain by tonight and possibly tomorrow morning which might be enough to keep you indoors; but, if that’s not enough, this morning’s light snow sprinkle may come around again on Sunday night. The National Weather Service predicts a high chance of precipitation which is expected to evolve into a “wintry mix” including snow, rain, and sleet, by the end of the weekend.
If you plan on being adventurous on Saturday, stay prepared as the day is likely to be filled with cloudy skies and a little rain here and there.
The good news is while the weather may be a little depressing, it’s expected to pass after Sunday night. The projected snow isn’t likely to accumulate or stay due to the above freezing temperatures. Mayor Bowser’s D.C. snow team already prepped the roads for today’s brief snowfall, but the team hasn’t announced a plan to prepare for Sunday’s weather yet.
“Slight changes in timing, amounts, and precipitation type are possible — but so far it looks like mainly rain,” according to Capital Weather Gang. “Temperatures top out in the near 40 to mid-40s for most.”
