The National Museum of Women in the Arts will be extending their usual hours until 8 p.m., with tours and gallery talks all day. Tours start at 11 a.m. and the last one starts at 7 p.m. The museum is also asking patrons to to take part in their campaign #5WomenArtists, by using the hashtag to name five female artists on social media. Moderated by Salt + Sundry and Little Leaf owner Amanda McClements, the panel will feature Shamim Popal, co-owner and chef of The Popal Group, Kristin Zamfotis, director of marketing at Gregorys Coffee, Shizu Okusa, co-founder of JRINK, Maria Font Trabocchi co-owner of Fabio Trabocchi Restaurants, and Washington Post features reporter Lavanya Ramanathan. The Korean Culture Center Washington, D.C. will be presenting a new exhibit To Be a Woman, which features works of sculpture, calligraphy, metal craft, and more from 45 Korean-American artists. The exhibit will remain open through March 25, but the opening reception on Friday will include talks by the artists. What Women Want is an international project that seeks to hear from 1 million women around the world about their priorities for maternal and reproductive healthcare. You can participate on your own on the group’s website, sure, but if you take the survey at Sweetgreen’s The Tavern in Georgetown on Friday, you’ll receive free Sweetflow frozen yogurt. At the “My Body My Power” salon at Sense Gallery DC, women are invited to perform songs, read poetry, recite stories, or present other types of work centered on the theme “My Body, My Power.” Tickets—open to all genders—include appetizers and one cocktail ticket, and attendees who bring an unopened box of menstrual products (pads, tampons, pantyliners) will receive one extra cocktail ticket. The products will go to We Are #HappyPeriod DC, which provides menstrual products to those experiencing homelessness or poverty, and ticket proceeds will go towards Kurandza, an international non-profit that invests in women in Mozambique.
