While spring may not have entirely sprung, that shouldn’t stop us from celebrating National Puppy Day this Saturday with beer and—of course—puppies.
Devil’s Backbone Brewing Company is hosting a “Pup-Up Bar” at The Midlands Beer Garden in Park View. Dog bartenders—aptly nicknamed “Puptenders”—will serve patrons $5 cans and $7 pints of the brand’s new Gold Leaf Lager via beer-toting vest. They’ll have help from Devil’s Backbone employees (Pup-Backs).
Guests can bring along their own dogs and, for a donation, they can grab some treats from the dog treat bar and get a caricature drawn. The “Pup-Up” Bar will also host giveaways of leashes, dog bowls, and collars throughout the afternoon. City Dogs Rescue will have adoptable dogs on site and will receive a portion of the profits from the event.
It’s also part of a national contest in which any pooch parents can send in photos of their adventurous good boys (and girls) to be featured on Devil’s Backbone’s Gold Leaf Lager beer can.
Midlands Beer Garden is located at 3333 Georgia Ave NW. Pup-Up Bar open Saturday, 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
