Unleash the pink at this weekend’s Cherry Blossom festivities
The opening weekend of the National Cherry Blossom Festival is filled with several all-pink events, which include a taiko drumming performance and cherry blossom themed crafts at the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Cherry Blossom Celebration from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, a gallery talk about Japanese art from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, and American and Japanese performances along the Tidal Basin from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Watch strong, black “wax” figures come to life
Blacks in Wax is an annual program from the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center, in which participants dress in period costumes as wax statues of African American icons of the past and present. Each wax figure comes to life through a first-person monologue depicting their contributions and place in history. This year’s performance will feature young activists who have made an impact on the country through their public protests and involvement, including elementary school children and young adults who have shown up to support civil rights initiatives.

Keep the Women’s History celebrations going at the Daughters of the American Revolution Museum
March is coming to an end but the Women’s History Month events are still going strong. The DAR Museum will host a Women’s History Celebration filled with activities, crafts, games, and music.The museum will also host tours of the archives throughout the day, as well as a preview of 19: The Musical, a performance about women suffragists who fought for the 19th amendment.

Craft your own kite to take to the skies
Now that it’s officially spring, it might be a good time to get your kites ready for those sunny days up ahead. Kids ages 3-12 can head over to the Southwest Library to craft and color their own plastic kites. Children under age 9 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Relax and unwind with pop up yoga at the U.S. Botanic Garden
Dozens of yoga guides from With Love DC are back in the District to bring you yoga classes filled with love, joy and acceptance surrounded by plants of all sorts. Grab your yoga mat and a water bottle and head over early to save your spot.
