A D.C. firefighter was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly assaulting a patient he had just transported to George Washington University Hospital, D.C. Fire and EMS confirms to DCist.
Twenty-six-year-old Theodore Mobley joined D.C. Fire and EMS in 2011, says spokesperson Vito Maggiolo. He allegedly got into a “physical confrontation” with a patient after transporting them to GW Hospital on a medical call Tuesday morning.
Police say he allegedly punched the patient on a gurney in the emergency room, reports FOX 5’s Paul Wagner.
Maggiolo would not confirm whether Mobley has been terminated from the department as a result of his arrest. He said that “his department took immediate and appropriate administrative action” in the matter.
“While this incident reflects poorly on the D.C. Fire and EMS Department, it does not represent our committed members who are providing exceptional and compassionate pre-hospital care to the hundreds of patients who call us for help each and every day,” Maggiolo says.
