After nearly a decade on 11th Street NW, Columbia Heights mainstay Meridian Pint is headed to Arlington.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we will be saying goodbye to Columbia Heights,” the gastropub tweeted.

“During the last 9 years a lot has changed in regards to the evolving needs of our staff, our customers, our lives and our city,” owner John Andrade wrote in an announcement published by Popville. “With change comes new opportunities for us all to grow in different directions. Therefore, we are very excited to announce that Meridian Pint will be moving to Arlington, VA to expand our passion for American craft beer into Northern Virginia.”

Fans of the watering hole only have a week left in the current location. Per Andrade, the Columbia Heights spot will host a “final Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 21st, 2019 then permanently close at 4pm.”

When it opened in 2010, Meridian Pint was one of the first D.C. bars to fully embrace craft beer.

“This one hurts,” tweeted former DCist beer contributor John Fleury. “People who moved to DC post [ChurchKey/Meridian Pint] openings take it for granted that DC has always had great beer bars. It’s like a 14 year-old kid new to music and not comprehending great music doesn’t come from a vacuum. These insane draft lists didn’t always exist in DC. Ppl took chances.”

The Pint Group—which also includes Smoke & Barrel, Rosario’s Tacos and Tequila, and Brookland Pint—announced its plan to bring a restaurant to Northern Virginia in late 2017. Its first venture into Arlington is happening in Dominion Hills, and is slated for an opening some time this spring, according to ARLnow.

But the loss of Meridian Pint is just the latest closure on that 11th Street block that has seen a number of changes recently. The owners of nearby restaurant Maple decided to close the restaurant to open a winery in Virginia, and the space will now house an Italian restaurant. New Hong Kong cuisine-focused Queen’s English just opened in the spot that previously housed The Good Silver and Kangaroo Boxing Club.
