One suspected thief in Capitol Hill appears to have chosen an electric scooter as a getaway vehicle.

On Monday, the Metropolitan Police Department released information on two robberies in the area that took place on April 25. In surveillance photos accompanying the release, the suspect can be seen riding an electric scooter, apparently fleeing from the scenes of the crime.

In the first robbery, at Browns Court, Southeast at 10:25 a.m., the suspect brandished a gun and demanded the victim hand over their belongings, according to MPD. The victim did so, and the suspect fled. About 20 minutes later, in the 500 block of 7th Street Northeast, the suspect again brandished the gun and robbed another victim. He again fled.

It’s not clear exactly what brand of scooter the suspect was riding (the grainy photo shows a resemblance to Bird), or if it was rented through one of the many, many, many, many scooter apps in town.

MPD is asking the public for tips in identifying the suspect based on the surveillance photos.
