Traffic near the Kennedy Center and the Lincoln Memorial will be disrupted again this weekend as the performing arts center continues its expansion.
The Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway from Virginia Avenue Northwest to the I-66/Potomac Avenue interchange will be closed starting Thursday night through Tuesday morning.
A portion of the Rock Creek Trail—from F Street Northwest to the Roosevelt Bridge—will also be closed to pedestrian and cyclists.
The closure is needed for the installation of a new pedestrian bridge that will connect the Kennedy Center’s expansion to the National Mall and Roosevelt Bridge, according to a press release. The expansion, called REACH, has been under construction since 2015 and is expected to open in September. The addition consists of three pavilions that will serve as immersive learning centers and performance spaces, filling an otherwise unused plot of land south of the original Kennedy Center.
The parkway will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday until 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists planning to travel around Foggy Bottom over the weekend should allow extra time.
