Sarah Jessica Parker will help shoppers browse for her shoes at MGM National Harbor this week.

After an eight-hour brunch with my three very different but still very close friends, I got to thinking about shopping. In D.C. we shop for locally made trinkets, for ethically-sourced fashion, and for women-created art. But how often do we shop for shoes from an Emmy-winning actress?

That’s when I saw it: Sarah Jessica Parker, best known for her incredible curls starring role as Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City, announced Tuesday that she will appear in the D.C. area on Friday to visit the MGM National Harbor outpost of her shoe brand, SJP Collection.

“I’ll be working the floor and helping customers shop our brand new pre-fall Collection,” SJP’s caption reads. MGM’s site says she’ll be on hand from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. on Friday.

Maryland’s MGM casino is home to the first brick-and-mortar location for the SJP Collection. Since it opened in late 2016, the brand has expanded with a handful of other shops as far-flung as Dubai and Las Vegas. (We couldn’t help but wonder: Why open an inaugural location at an MGM in Maryland, and not in the actress’ home city of New York? As Parker put it to Washingtonian back when the store opened in 2016, “They asked.”) Shoes—which are almost exclusively high heels, and mainly stilettos—retail for around $400, and the shop also offers handbags and other accessories.

If you’re more of a Real Housewives of Atlanta fan, Nene Leakes is set to appear at MGM on Saturday for the opening of a brick-and-mortar location for her clothing brand, Swagg Boutique. If social media is any indication, she’s already in the District, having made an appearance on FOX 5 during the weather report.
